"The Key" ~ A print of the original painting by Emily Balivet, 2012.
Inspired by the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, "The Old Woman in the Wood", a story about a poor servant girl who had been traveling with the family which she was in service. They were attacked by robbers who stole everything and slaughtered them all, except for her. With nowhere to go and nothing to eat, and nowhere to sleep, she sat down in the dark forest and wept. After a while a bird appeared with a key in its beak. The key unlocked doors to tiny chambers within the trees which held everything anyone in her circumstance could need. And the story continues on and on in a most fabulous and romantic way...
Printed on archival quality smooth, matte photo paper, the image measures 8" x 10" with a .25" border allowance for matting and framing. The print is sealed in a protective cello sleeve, signed, titled, and dated on the back by the artist, and ships flat.
